Message Of Belated Merry Christmas !

“we are always striving for secured life. we want our life to be beautiful. we want to be looked beautiful. in our entire life we often care about our physical body, our external appearances, we have worry for our own well being , always we seek for good education, for better and secured job. and there is struggle, competition, fight, jealous, hate among us for the sake of these things.  so called science and technology, i think , have nothing to invent which are requirement to sustain human life but science has still been discovering things and replacing previous one by latest one, they are modifying already existing things and making people feel needy of that. and we are always spending our life running after these things. and yes, we don’t have time to think that “ain’t we missing something to care about when we are running out of our lifetime each sec??” it’s fine we care about ourselves, our body, our appearances. although we are handsome and beautiful but still we put make up on our appearances, we are worried about our health so we often go to doctor and ask if we are OK( but i don’t mean it’s wrong)?  we are sensitive to diet, our physical fitness, our dress up. and i don’t mean not to care about all these things.. but at the end of our life how much these things which we have put on the top of priority ranking really matters??

when we die one day and will be lying on the floor all our relatives, our beloved will be grievous, they will cry, they will tear but, why they have to do all these scene?? while our body is still there, our eyes are at the same place where it was supposed to be and so is our heart, no one has stolen what we had earned during our whole lifetime, our name, fame, wealth and  everything is right there where it was before we die. but still they are crying?? why?? because although there is body in front of them but something is lacking, something is being left from our body. and yes it is none other than our SOUL. which is less cared by most of the people in their entire life.  and yes it is the reason for what other people are crying for when we die? they are not crying for our fit body, not for our beautiful faces and if so then they would use preservative to preserve our body I believe but, they burns with pyre or they bury our body deep inside grave.”

it is what i learned today when i attended “Art Of Controlling Mind” presented by one of the Hindu “santa”. which was interesting and full of knowledge. though i belong to Christianity by religion, i don’t think i should not attend to have some knowledgeable stuff in my mind in Mandir or mosque or stupa even though other think i shouldn’t. and i won’t regret being punished for that if jesus punish me.

it’s been said in Bible that body is just temporary, soul is what lives forever and it is up to you where do you want your soul to live. if you want eternal life then Christ is the only option. like Santa said, we invest most of our time caring and running after such things for which no one cries at the end. and pay little attention which lives forever. i don’t mean we have to be indifferent to modern and modified lifestyle, to science and technology, to our short living body but as believer of Christ what i want to say is let us save our soul too, as this is the only thing of us which is supposed to enter either hell or heaven.

and for that as a christian i recommend only surefire way is the way shown by Christ. who was conceived by virgin merry and came to earth for reason that each soul should be saved. who was tortured, crucified and buried but resurrected after three days of his crucification, it is believed that, as a messenger of lord, all which he bore was to cleanse our sin. who was born on just date of yesterday before 2000 years ago.                                                                                                                    images (1)

let our soul live in heaven when our body goes to grave. and only way that leads our soul to heaven is the way shown by Jesus. lets believe  in Jesus and have eternal life.

may god bless all of us

                                                               Belated Merry Christmas to all!

How badly do you want success? Have you ever been successful?

“Of course why not? For sure I always want it more than so badly. But success is as yet to come in my life because I am still young, I don’t know if by the last moment of life, I would be like those Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Leonardo de Caprio etc. or not.” It is the possible answer of most of us.We all have that stereotypical thought about success which is on the basis of how most of the people define it?

Sometime if we 2/4 guys become collected at a place(mostly at passage of hostel), topic comes out from nowhere and little –little conversation develops into full-fledged debate without preparation , mind gets churn-up not knowing how long it takes to get to the final conclusion . Just like the butter after the intense churning of the milk finally we end up with casting our vote to most convincing reason as a conclusion. And last time it was about success.

One of my friend said “successful persons are those few people who are well known to many others or who can impress the massive number of people.”

I said “everyone is successful if they are happy with what they achieved.”

Then debate just went on.We all opined our own opinion for a long time. Throughout the whole debate word achievement, happiness and success came frequently. We defined and linked them to each other on our own way.

He said “among the top ten student of the class, rest of the student, teachers and other people thinks that most successful one is 1st boy. People don’t think you’re successful in front of Ram Krishna Dhakal although you too sing”.

“Nope! Even a last boy/girl of the class may be successful. But it’s all up to how they feel towards their achievement. Suppose, last one of the class never expected more than just pass mark and 1st boy aimed to score 90 % , but in mark sheet former scored only 80% and he still is the 1st but not happy & latter one is just happy with 35% and is still last of class. Who do you think is successful one?” I asked

He said “as I told already, obviously people consider 1st boy as a successful person among them and he is successful. And same rules of being successful are applicable to other.”

I said “no, success is not judgmental things based on the comparison to the rest of the world by people, it is the happiness of achievement.” “Success is all about being happy with what you achieved” I repeated again.

He said “There is one person who really wants to offer a service to helpless of society and he did too. He gave clothes to who didn’t have; he gave food to those who didn’t have. Now people are happy with him and happy with what they achieved. What do you think about happiness of that achievement? Are they also successful?”

“It is not that kind of happiness. It is the happiness to that achievement to which you have invested your effort to achieve it.” I replied.

And finally we came to agree that being successful is irrespective of how people graded you, instead it is your personal happiness to achievement as a result of consistent effort. Doesn’t matter how big or small your achievement is in comparison to others. Being like a Obama, Leonardo, or anyone else who have been supposed as a successful person is not a yardstick to measure how successful you are. I believe after your birth to till date you have achieved many things that you have longed for and it was different, may be, as time went on. And if you were happy at that time, if you are happy now with that, then you are already successful many times. So called successful person may not be happy with what he/she achieved but still people may say he is successful, but that is  an illusion.

“Achievement without happiness is not a success!”

Let See….!

It was the article by Bijaya Kumar published in ekantipur which made me engrossed in the issue of one of the social worker Dilshova Shrestha which was marking a new rising mercury level in the Nepalese Media sector.  it left me so impatient to unfurl the Dilshova that promptly I googled and youtubed her and what I found about her was so heartrending that before being on the verge of tear I was already tearing .Dil-Shova

Her story began when she tied a nuptial knot with a guy whom she loved, she was from well off family but after marriage only she found he was living on rented room but she didn’t left him only because he was badly off. Her first baby (boy) died soon after she gave him a birth because of her poor nutrition during pregnancy time.  Second time when she got pregnancy her mother supported her with good food and gave a birth to the girl. His husband wasn’t happy with her for she gave birth to the daughter.  When her daughter was of marriageable age then her husband eloped with other women with all what she treasured for her daughter marriage. Her and her daughter’s life started to struggle in misery; neighbor also never became positive to what they were going through so not to bear all this kind of burden she with her daughter attempted to commit the suicide having poison. But they didn’t die.

Her turning point came when one of the lady teacher  soothed her not to worry about what happened in past due to not being able to give a birth to son  and having son is not only the enough reason to be happy. She took her to the Tripureshwar where one aama of almost eighty was in so miserable condition even though she had her three sons. Then her mind started to change.

Initially she started to take care of her(aama). When she used to travel for this  old women she saw many others lying on the road she got deeply hurt and she thought to pick up the those aama’s from road and planned accordingly.  In 1997 she brought 5 helpless Aama from street to her house at Ravi bhawan. She formally established her own house as Aamaghar in 2000. She was rearing 47 aama and 34 children. In order to keep this entire 81 person alive on her own how she has to go through is really touching. She received the financial support from her daughter/son-in-law, and now nationwide well-wisher throughout the world.

When one goes through the story of Dilshova and her interview they can’t be left without being asked to themselves does such kinda person still exist in our society? What she did to such kind of helpless Aama lying in the street was really worthy of respect. She also says how she hasn’t been able to provide proper food, and their wishes to them sometime and it is obvious too, because 75whatever she has been doing is on her own .and it is far more better to those street Aama to live in the Dilshova’s Aamaghar with love and care instead lying in the street helplessly who had no cover to shade scorching sun, and who had nowhere to go when they were shivery due to cold. Something is really better than nothing.

Now she has been alleged with the sexual abuse and labor exploitation of children and elderly.

And how she is being accused for sexually abusing children and elderly of her Aamaghar brings the real dilemma of whom to believe? And this news got publishes in one of the reputed daily newspaper of nation, and controversial one sided phone call also has been flashed. If I supposed to believe what media brought in front of everyone then story of how she went through for 16 years to be who she is today, and her determination, her beliefs never let me believe she can be so pretentious and dramatic. And if i didn’t believe in what media says then one question becomes unanswered how one of the reputed media can be so responsible for ruining one’s personal reputation?

Our society is materialistic and so is every people living in this society. it is one in thousand who have feeling of selflessness, who offers the service to other without expecting benefit.

It isn’t that good person can’t commit mistake. And no one can be perfect as well, everyone has some kind of flaws even with a god to whom we worship, has flaws which isn’t worthy of worship. But One mistake is prominent than hundreds of good deed.

And now it is under investigation so I don’t want to say who is right and who is wrong with claim, it’s all up to probe commission. And the conclusion of the probe commission gonna be exemplary of either of following situation of our society for sure:

If accusation against the Dilshova turns to be right then it shows still our society has not been so free from opportunistic and selfish and thousands of real social worker will be in shame and millions who had belief & respect for their so called selflessness will be disheartened.

And if it turns to be wrong then it will be proved once again our society is such that one doing good job always get discouraged anyhow.

Either one is going to be proved but both of these aforementioned situations are what the issues of social working in our society are.  Both Kind of social workers are existing, one is really selfless being pulled back by other, and another is just pretending to be social worker with selfish motive.

Let see what kind of social worker our Dilshova Shrestha is?

That’s Why m gonna love u…!

Early in the morning when I get up, I see the snow clad Machhapuchhre as always, and I feel as if it is just trying to teach me how to smile in perpetuity. Never surging calm Phewa taal which drowned no boat ever, taught me being quiet and cool is surefire way of never making mistake. Seti on the bottom of the deep gorge flowing without burble is who taught me how to erode and scour the obstacle ahead and keep going.

That’s how you always triggered motivation of mine.

Ears are functional because you have all what birds’ needs to chirp. Nose can feel the fragrance of flower because you always let flower to have what it needs to be in full bloom and my tongue only can enjoy the meal if u let the field produce more crops. You have lots of tangible things to make sure my sense of touch is Ok.

So, my sense organs aren’t sense organ without you.

I’m handsome because of you.

I’m living, I’m motivated, I’m who I’m because of you.

But, instead of what you did to me, out of chimney of industry I billowed co2 full smoke for you, I did deforestation to make you nude, did urbanization, industrialization for the sake of so-called civilization and many more.

I regret unrequited love of your ‘s ,Though I never loved you the way you loved me but I want you to be sure henceforth  I’m gonna love you like no-one did ever before

Owing the debt of gratitude for who you always became to me, with all of my heart I am madly in love with you.

Beauty Is only to see….

Since time imemorable to infinite time ahead, it is universal truth, beauty is being loved by everyone. So is human beings beauty. Specially of women/girls. Beautiful girls are never invisible even in the crowd. Like many other, I am also the die-hard fan of them ;), to be honest even when I go to church, when I walk alone in the street, when I travel by bus, or when I am in class I do sneak my sight to the pretty face of those beautiful girls time and again :D. But, today is the day I found beauty so ugly that I had never ever imagined and for the first time I disliked it too much. and found beauty only is nothing that matters to one. there should be severals things, indeed, to be beautiful. Its all about none other than that beautiful girl, who was destined to ride the same bus with me or, may be, it was me who was destined to travel with her in the same bus, for some lesson to be learned 😀 😉

I was on the way back to my college by local bus at evening. And sure bus was congested. And  was already more than full of people. At the end of the aisle, side by side four girl and one boy had already occupied the seat.  Boys was near to window and women next to him was probably his mother who didn’t seem to merit for girl to be addressed , and rest of all were girls among of them I bet one was breathtakingly beautiful, though rest of two were beautiful too. When I entered the bus and penetrated through the people standing on aisle to take a place for mine in front of last seat,  I saw the her talking to someone on mobile, and for her to notice it took no time for me for she was beautiful.  she had a pretty face, white complexion, and well dressed, all her appearance showed with no doubt she was from decent family background. I wasn’t eavesdropping but heard her talk to someone  for I was near to her. She started to say “ what???……. hello….hello….what?? ….K?? K re…?…….” I thought mobile networks sometimes goes crazy . I have also gone through many times.  She had engrossed herself on her cell phone… scrolling down through phone list, sometime. Sometime, typing message …mumbling in anger tone. She hunched forward as her one friend was siting in front of her…. And showed mobile, may be there was some text or something like that. “they were to meet me. But I was busy na? saale….!?

“Ignore him for now? Lets call him after we reach home, ok ? “ her friend said.

I guessed the person she was talking on phone to was her boyfriend.

Then  I confused she really raged or pretended?

She tried many time on her phone, before she raged.

She started to blabber using such a word that for the first time I didn’t believe it was my eardrum being struck with such filthy word ? or ok. Fine I was hearing, but hoped god, at least it wouldn’t have been in public place !! it was surprising to see how such a pretty girl can speak in that way.

Maaa……  Baal Bhayo…? Tyo maaa…. Sanga nabolda k hunchha, next is lining up for me.. maaa….”

She ignored everyone around him. Women next to her could be the mom with her son, or aunt with her cousin ,,,, people standing in front of her could be the relatives to each other . but she was ignoring them and continued to produced such words… even the people who were unknown to each other were trying to avoid their face from seeing  each others  due to shame .

Again her cell phone beeped, she received . may be callers was the same person to whom she was blabbering at. She tried to spoke softly…spoke indistinctly …. Said I’ll call you later” and started to produce the same way of speaking . she sometime banged her fist on her thigh. And kept saying many “maaaaa…..”  with various tone each with different emotion.

Sometime making her middle finger up. Gesturing in many way.

I thought she was little bit overacting too, as there was no one to stop her.

Khalasi Dai came to us for fare. We paid. Everyone paid. She said “mom is there, ask her”

I was shocked. Further. Just two seat in front of her. Her mother was sitting. And just two seat behind of her mother she was speaking  so filthily that capturing attention of all, though they didn’t glimpse her more than once, I thought poor mother how poorly you have had your daughters upbringing?

I do accept everyone can speak in that way, and speaks too,  despite of  knowing  its not pleasant word to be heard , but as a man for they all have minimum level of sanity one have to be careful. place where one sitting merely may not be his/her bedroom or person next to them merely may not be their friends only. at least if we couldn’t distinguish the situation around us,  what it would mean being a human being?

What she was trying to prove, anyway? Was she really furious? Or was she trying to be noticed herself as brave girl coz generally Nepalese women/girls never dares in that way in a public place?

But whatever she was trying to prove, she proved herself as ugly girl with beautiful face. Girl can be beautiful , but every beautiful girl may not possess the beauty of virtue. (Not only girls but boys too).

Who cares she is from decent family background, who cares she has a pretty face ? after all, Who have known none other  than letting their emotion in public place in such a bad manner, ignoring everything.

beauty of external appearance only worth nothing . and girls external appearance is not only things for gentleman needed to spend life with. And so is for ladies.

And judgement on the basis of one’s external appearance is foolishness. Who knows how is behinds the facade of external beauty/?

after all, Its been said ..

Beauty is only to see…………

Black man: of Saturday

he had a dark black complexion, kinda chunky, cap on head, not well dressed, spot of dirt on his shirt & pant, it was not difficult me to conclude that his clothes were in the verge of being tattered and he was not from decent origin. I never cared of other except some who used to be conspicuous among the flock of church goers like; The foreigner who used to have tall, white  and big size body than normal Nepali’s, the host of that Saturday, member of choir group,  some pretty girls 😉 and him. it’s been no longer he started to come to church but since his first day I always noticed him because he was blacker than any black guy attending for pray moreover he used to sit in front row of mine, just in front of me. he would come to church alone and before having seat in front of me he  used to observe adjacent person of his front , hind and side  with smile on his face, then he wouldn’t care around him instead used to focus himself to the host and singing of choir. Never produced a word till today while one small kid was gaping at him continuously, as if he wasn’t from this planet. Perhaps black guy felt odd, then he asked lovingly squeezing his soft cheek with his black and rough finger “tmro nam k ho babu??”   boy jolted awake. Without answering boy went away. May be he was sure by that time black guy wasn’t alien anymore and I was also sure he wasn’t from  Nigeria or any other African country. Since, he asked to boy in Nepali but in “Bhaiya” tone.  So I came to know that he was “bhaiya” either from Terai or from India.

image from google

One thing I always observed about this guy was, there was the donation box where it’s been written that  “ donation box for Gospel outreach”  and every Saturday he used to drop some amount inside it. I  never managed to see  before,  how much he used to drop there but today I was able to sneak my sight to glance him  dropping 100 rupee note.

After finishing prayer I was in rush back to my hostel. On the way I saw him paddling old cycle and sacks being dangled by carriage full of bottle tin and other material and was still shouting “thotra tin bottle kawadi”…..

I wasn’t amazed at all but couldn’t stop myself  being pondered. There was many people who were from decent family background, used to ride bike, used to ride scooter, some even a car  but he was the first person I ever saw dropping his help in donation box every Saturday, ever  since I came here for prayer and later came to know he was cycle rider, bottle and tin collector.  Since this guy started to donate some rupee I used observe if other would too do the same?  but they never did. Though they seemed well groomed and better than him, they never ever have even a glance on that box but this guy who was obviously not from decent origin was near to box for some help to be dropped in it.

finally before entering to my room i concluded:

in this jovial Saturday this black man at least remind me that  “People who are poor, do the worst kinda struggle and hardly managing themselves to afford all, tend to be more kind, generous and loyal. But those who are supposed to be rich and  well being are cynical, ignorant and self-centered even though both do the prayer to the same god and both are being equally loved by god.”

I Hate Becoming Grown Up..

Sometime I hate becoming myself so grown up. When I was just child,  I spent totally  carefree time, without bearing any burden in mind, without regretting what I had done yesterday, without being careful what m I doing today and without worrying about the unseen future, everything  was just unplanned but smoothly going on. Flashbacks of those bygone time still comes in my mind and makes me jealous of that small carefree me. no one ever did careless to watch my back even though I was doing things carelessly. But today i became 20 years old guy. Though my parent is so great that they still don’t turn deaf ear for my demand, and they aren‘t blindfolded at all for my ne   eds. But, now, I find, which is reality too, no more time being left so I could still , in anger,  punch my parent with my little fist and hear them responding “oh my little rude child” , i realize  no more time being left so I could cry on hunger and thirst and after that see my hand full with foodstuff or some rupee to buy whatever I wanted. No time to complain about what I wore, no time to make a wrinkle on face for what I wished. I think that is the real symptom of growing up for becoming youth, so one is capable of making wise decision, take responsibility to kill their hunger and quench their  thirst by themselves. Worrying and planning for future and are enthusiastic, energetic, and dynamic. But I am not being proud of that. Those Words used for defining youth seem to sound so good n great. But I bet this stage in your life is no

As grown up daughter or son of parent, and be defined as youth, inevitably, face to some kind of moral pressure without being imposed by someone  that u have to do something good for your parent, and for yourself as well. We have our own dreams, to be fulfilled and dream of parent as well. We have to live in such a way so we can be defined by system as “young, energetic, enthusiastic, dynamic, cause of change etc.” and do you think all of that is so simple to synchronize at all ?? Nope. Not so easy. And obviously requires great consistency without being any impatient, and have to practice worse kinda toil u have ever done. And in the pursuit of better way of fulfilling all these things, responsibilities and task laden youth have lots of “this & that , and  here & there” making them most mobile group of our society. All of them are doing the same and so am I.  If I were still child I wouldn’t have to be bothered by all this. But what difference such flying in fantasies makes now?? I already have been landed on the ground of reality. That’s why I hate sometimes becoming so grown up.

Happy Youth Day To All Including Myself 😉

“The End of Millennium Development Goals And Beyond”

perhaps many of us have heard about ‘millennium development goals’  even though if we aren’t known much about it. some part of world is being suffered from hunger and poverty, many children and people have been deprived of even a primary education  there is gender inequality, health of people are in risk, child mortality and many more.. in order to address these kinds of problem around the globe, united nation  in 2000 held summit called ‘millennium summit’ following the adoption of ‘united nation millennium declaration’ in order to achieve following eight international goals:

images (77)

image – from google.

1. reducing extreme poverty and hunger
2. ensuring universal primary education
3. ensuring gender equality and empowering the women
4. reducing child morlity rates
5. ensuring safe maternal health
6. combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
7. ensuring environmental sustainability

8. developing a global partnership for development
these international goals determined by the united nation is known as millennium development goals. millennium development goals have been agreed by the 189 country around the world who are the member of united nation and 23 various international organisation and they have promised to achieve the goals by the end of 2015. the term international development is different than simply development in that it is specifically composed of institutions and policies. International development is related to the concept of international aid.To accelerate progress, the G8 Finance Ministers agreed in June 2005

to provide enough funds to the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the African Development Bank (AfDB) to cancel an additional $40 to $55 billion in debt owed by members of the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) to allow impoverished countries to re‑channel the resources saved from the forgiven debt to social programs for improving health and education and for alleviating poverty. it seeks to implement long-term solutions to problems by helping developing countries create the necessary capacity needed to provide such sustainable solutions to their problems.

End of the 2015 is inching nearer and nearer,so, how have these goals of UN in various country been achieving?? is that targeted goals are likely to be achieved or not?? these are the question to be pensively ponder.
Major countries that have been achieving their goals include China (whose poverty population has reduced from 452 million to 278 million) and India due to clear internal and external factors of population and economic development. However, areas needing the most reduction, such as the sub-Saharan Africa regions have yet to make any drastic changes in improving their quality of life.

countries like Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Uganda have eliminated school fees. This resulted in the increase in student enrollment in several regions. For instance, in Ghana, public school enrollment in the most deprived districts increased from 4.2 million to 5.4 million between 2004 and 2005. in Kenya, enrollment of primary school children surged significantly with 1.2 million extra increase of children in school in 2003 and by 2004, the number had climbed to 7.2 million.

Even though the poverty rates in sub-Saharan Africa decreased in a small percent, there are some successes regarding millennium development goals in sub-Saharan Africa. In the case of MDG 1, sub-Saharan region started to eradicate poverty by strengthening the industry of rice production.

image- from google.

Originally, rice production was one of the main problems since its production rate could not catch up the rapid population growth by mid‑1990s.

developing countries like Bangladesh have shown that it is possible to reduce child mortality with only modest growth with inexpensive but effective interventions, such as measles immunization.
According to some experts, MDG 7—to halve the proportion of the population without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation—is still far from being reached. Since national governments often cannot provide the necessary infrastructure, civil society in some countries started to organise and work on sanitation themselves.

Goal 8 of the MDGs is unique in the sense that it focuses on donor government commitments and achievements, rather than successes in the developing world.
Although developed countries’ aid for the achievement of the MDGs have been rising over recent years.the 50 least developed countries only receive about one third of all aid that flows from developed countries, raising the issue of aid not moving from rich to poor depending on their development needs but rather from rich to their closest allies.

so, the condition is getting improved though it is not as rapid as expected. and still there is mound of challenge in implementation of program and achieving goals within targeted time period.  but end of 2015 is not the end of journey of achieving the targeted international development goals, I think UN have got a more new issue to think about and pace step differently. all countries and organisation who have promised to achieve the goals, necessarily have to make try to achieve this goals within fixed time period, though  journey do not end what after 2015?? what what have UN thought about that?

images (79)

image from google.

as 2015 approaches, however increasing global uncertainties such as economic crisis and climate change   have led to an opportunity to rethink the MDG approach to development policy. At the September 2010 MDG Summit, UN Member States initiated steps towards advancing the Post-2015 Development Agenda and are now leading process of open, inclusive consultations on the post-2015 agenda. Civil society organizations from all over the world have also begun to engage in the post-2015 process, while academia and other research institutions, including think tanks, are particularly active.

On 31 July 2012, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon appointed 26 civil society, private sector, and government leaders from all regions to a high-level panel to advise on the global development agenda beyond 2015.

millennium development goals is obviously non other than goals of developing the human living condition around the world. and progress towards achieving the goals are uneven type. achieving those international millennium goals is obviously not a short term plan and not possible to have achievement within short period of time too. so also after the end of 2015, it should be continued, modifying with some current hot issue to be considered.

Role Of Social Media In Youth Capacity Building

If we cried, it may not be audible far beyond 200m. We may not be visible from 100 meter away. If we wrote a letter to our relatives, it may not be delivered till months. But it is possible to hear the whisper form US, here in Nepal which is lying just another side of the earth, it’s been possible to deliver message to anywhere of the world just in one click of the ENTER of our computer. I remember my aunty reading letter dated 2-3 month before of mine uncle all the way from gulf. And it’s been no longer thenceforth, I see my aunty chatting with uncle in facebook. Few days back I saw one of my friend so happy, but not because her sister was coming home from US after years instead she had already updated the picture of all stuff being brought home along with her, in facebook. Many of us may barely have 500 friends but many of us have 500 facebook friends, at least. Friend living in Europe may have already known to what am I feeling? What am I thinking? What am I planning? Before our parent know. That’s what social media does?

Flocks of people are, signing up in various social media every day, especially youth. Just like a plague, spreading rapidly. Craze of social media has become so vigorous that, we have to sign in our facebook account early in the morning before doing everytdownload (5)hing as if that is our 1st task which we have to do necessarily and at the end of the day when we will be lying on the bed we have to sign in again before we sign into dream. (let’s not talk about the interval between night and morning). Why youth are so addicted to social networking?? What advantage are they deriving from it?? Are they just using it and getting nothing or making it beneficial for their life, too? Are they wasting their time on it or making productive??These are the some issues of being engaged in social network that have to be think about.

Being a member of social networking have both pros and cons. We all have also witnessed the social media being misused for crime. Youth are being addicted to it which is also the misuse.  Whether social media is boosting up ones capacity or not totally depends upon how are thy using it? Obviously youth should have taken the advantages of it. It’s a kind of mini world where we can find many thing. But which aspect we wish to belong or we have to belong, that’s up to us! Because sometime we know the good things but we just do is ignorance, and sometime we don’t know such things and everything just messes up. I think social networking is the good platform to develop ourselves, our personality, and let other people know who am I?

Yes we can be up-to-date with hot and happenings around the world via social networking. Obviously news and update broadens the horizon of our knowledge. We can join various online social and environmental movement/campaign. We can share our idea and feelings to other. Social networking is connecting youth with youth from every nook and cranny of the world and making them together. It’s not merely connecting individual but letting their ideas and thought to flow. Social media is the blessings to all of us, before we misuse it then it’s no more than curse. We know how PSY become hero of youtube. He just made a video for “Gangnam style” and publicized through youtube and exceeded 1 billion viewer which was first ever video to do so on website history. there are lots of such exemplary work by youth, how they have catapulted themselves into limelight with the proper use of social media. Many artist/actor/actress publicize themselves through various social media. We heard the news of how facebook, twitter and youtube fueled up the Arab spring movement and propelled to success.

images (72)Arabs people also logged in the same facebook which we have been using to chat but they used differently, they posted the schedule of their protest instead posting nonsense status, used the same youtube which we are using to download movie and songs to share their word to world and twitter to coordinate with each other and finally overthrew the autocratic ruling system.

So how much you will be benefited from anything is just proportional to the how u use the things? So there is lots of things with social media which may be boon to our life. But whether we proves it as blessing or curse is up to us !

Youth Employment: Decent Work For All Young People , Everywhere

“Ability worth nothing if u don’t get an opportunity” – Napoleon Bonaparte

Every youth might have witnessed the condition relevant to the Napoleon’s saying. Last year one of my uncle son finished his B.Ed. sometime when I bumped to him, I use to be asking him what job are you doing nowadays DaDa? Surely, he never says “I am doing nothing” but blushes that runs instantly on his face tells ‘I am doing nothing worthy, that my certificates deserve.’ I know he is manning his father shop. Every year thousands of youth graduates from universities and takes a rest of having been employed nowhere.

Every day there is queue of Nepalese youth at the exit of the TIA(Tribhuwan International Airport) having their passport and visa held on hand. But their passport and images (18)visa on their hand do not meant them leaving to foreign land on vacation after having salary from office, and their  purposes do not supposed to spent days on the beach sunbathing, at all. They are dreaming of some better employment opportunity out there. And in the pursuit of opportunity no need of sunbathing, their skin will certainly be scorched in the scorching sun of gulf.  All of us know about the difficulties that one have to bear in gulf country when working as employee, despite the knowledge of that still young people are queuing with the red Tika of best wishes being pasted on forehead, and making puddle of tear on eye.

Choice obliged by obligation when no other choice left.

Youth are fighting for limited opportunity, wandering here and there in the pursuit of opportunity or just roaming being tired of doing all that consequently, frustrated and depressed. Either educated or uneducated, flocks of youth are always seeking for decent job to do, in condition of freedom, equity, human security and dignity. But they are unable to get that, so in order to be engaged they are engaging theimages (19)mselves in drugs addiction, murder, robbery, and rape and creating other social problems. All they want is to be secured, and to get not only work but decent work to do. But, even for the energetic, dynamic and talent youth still they have difficulties and challenges in achieving such so called decent work*.

*According to the International Labor Organization ILO, Decent Work involves opportunities for work that is productive and delivers a fair income, security in the workplace and social protection for families, better prospects for personal development and social integration, freedom for people to express their concerns, organize and participate in the decisions that affect their lives and equality of opportunity and treatment for all women and men.

But the problem is not only in our country, this whole world is facing youth employment challenge. According to ILO, global employment trend for youth, nearly 40 % of total estimated unemployed people (i.e. 200 million) in this world are between 15-24 years of age that is about 75 million of world population. The economy will need to create 600 million productive jobs over the next decade in order to balance the current unemployment levels and to provide employment opportunities to the 40 million labour market entrants each year over the next decade (ILO, global employment trends, Geneva, January, 2012) Although all regions face a major youth employment crisis, we can see large differences exist across countries and regions. For instance, in North Africa the youth unemployment rate has increased by

almost five percentage points between 2010 and 2011 reaching a rate of nearly 28 per cent by the end of 2011. Similarly, unemployment among young people in the Middle East was projected to reach a rate of about 27 per cent by the end of 2012. By the end of 2011, the youth unemployment rate in South Asia was 8.6 per cent. Change in both the unemployment rate and the number of unemployed youth from 2008 to 2011 were largest in European countries. Over this period, the number of unemployed youth increased by a massive 26.5 per cent while the unemployment rate rose by 4.7 percentage points above the level in 2008. (Thematic paper prepared by the ILO for global youth forum, 2012)

In this way challenge in youth employment sector is going to hit new records day by day. Most of the uneducated youth from the developed country are more likely to be unemployed, and in case of developing country educated youth are more likely to be suffered.  In case of our country problem is further triggered by the poor economy of country so that poor capability of country to invest for production though we have resources, unstable political condition, not the lack of education but technical knowledge of how to create opportunity and be an employee of ourselves.

 In conclusion…

In order to check the overseas flying of youth and  for the opportunity of decent job to all young people, government should have given due consideration. And we youth also have some problems otherwise we can help ourselves:

Most important point to be noted about the Nepalese youth as I think is to change in perception of youth that no work is great and small. We should have respect for job. And doing same work in foreign land doesn’t mean different than here. We prefer

the same work of construction in the scorching hot of the gulf country, but same work if we were offered here then we surely would be reluctant. We are happy to mop the floor there but for sure, we never be ready in our own place. We do the same agricultural work there but here our land remains barren and unploughed. Just to earn little more, why should we fly for gulf to invest our labour and sweat there, risking own life, being apart from family and missing own country?

And another important point is we have lack of sustainable thinking. i.e. how most of the youth after returning from overseas employment utilize their earnings? Or how young people uses the money they owned? Yes they are fond of riding new bike, having new gadget and finishes money for that. As I observed most of the overseas employee soon falls to zero, after paying loan and debt taken when applying for visa. Some of them makes new house, some changes roof of their house. But they never ever think about how to make 100 rupee to 200. Never plans for how and where to invest money that they earned?? Investing money for poultry farming could be more sustainable than changing the roof of house.  Likewise we can invest in other way (in fruits farming, off-season vegetable farming, make tea garden etc.) so there could be the income to ourselves and opportunity for other too.

I think, we all youth have to do brainstorm how to be an employer to ourselves instead of being employee of other.  Moreover, educated unemployed young people should have given more due consideration on this issue!
